Bookstore - Infoshop - Vegan Café 

Located in a century-old Victorian in south Chico, BLACKBIRD is modeled after and inspired by the long storied traditions of underground DIY spaces, Anarchist bookstores, and bohemian cafés as places of creative counter-culture.

BLACKBIRD is a mostly volunteer run collective whose mission is to showcase and distribute alternative, radical books, information and art, while to providing a welcoming space for organizing, workshops, performance, dreaming and scheming, or just hanging out. 

BLACKBIRD features a bookstore and infoshop, as well as a small cafe featuring organic, fair trade coffee and teas, local kombucha, beer and delicious home-made vegan pastries and sandwiches. Additionally, we host a wide range of events; workshops, film screenings, art shows, music, fundraisers and presentations.

BLACKBIRD is a physical space where face to face communication and collaboration is celebrated and prioritized over staring at screens.
